SPEAKCIVICS

Privacy information

Last updated October 19, 2026. This page describes the current promotional website and practice experience.

The promotional website

Public study guides provide sample questions. The full web app, including the free trial, offers optional microphone-based answering; the microphone and speech-recognition details below apply. The website does not display third-party advertising or collect payment information directly. The iPhone and iPad app is available through the App Store; launch-waitlist signup is now closed. The hosting service may process technical information, such as request information and IP addresses, to deliver and protect the website. Full browser practice is available after server verification of a browser access key. The iOS app uses Apple in-app purchases for paid access instead of a web access key.

Website analytics

We use Microsoft Clarity in cookieless mode across our website, including trial, activation, and browser practice pages, to understand visits, clicks, scrolling, and navigation. Microsoft receives website usage and technical information, such as page addresses and browser information. We send denied analytics-storage and advertising-storage signals before loading Clarity. Cookieless measurement has limited session recording, visitor continuity, and funnel functionality. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Cookieless analytics starts automatically unless you previously opted out or your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. Select Analytics preferences on any page to turn Clarity off. We preserve existing opt-outs. Forms, access-key fields, and response messages are masked. Browser practice text is masked to protect learner answers and personal information; Clarity does not record microphone audio. Preferences are saved in this browser. This control applies to Clarity separately from advertising measurement described below.

Advertising measurement

We use the Google Ads tag on public website pages and the trial and activation pages to measure visits from Google ads. It may use cookies and advertising click identifiers. When a paid checkout returns to our purchase-confirmation page with an order identifier and a positive order total, we send Google a purchase conversion with that order identifier, value, and currency. Free trial orders are not reported as paid purchases. We do not include access keys, payment-card details, microphone recordings, or personal practice answers in this purchase event. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services. The Analytics preferences control governs Microsoft Clarity, not the Google Ads tag or OpenAI measurement pixel. You can manage advertising cookies through your browser settings.

SpeakCivics uses the OpenAI Ads Measurement Pixel on promotional pages to measure when a visitor starts checkout after interacting with an ad in ChatGPT. The Pixel may use first-party cookies and an attribution identifier supplied with the ad visit. SpeakCivics sends the checkout-started event, product name, price, and currency; it does not send payment-card information. You can remove these cookies by clearing site data in your browser.

App Store launch waitlist

Launch-waitlist signup is closed. For people who previously joined, we retain their email address, signup time, and the version of the launch-email consent notice on our server. We use this information to send one email announcing the SpeakCivics App Store launch, not for an ongoing newsletter. We also record when that notification has been sent. Your address is not shown publicly. To leave the list or request deletion, email Contact@speakcivics.com from the address you signed up with.

24-hour free web trial

Free-trial signup is processed by Lemon Squeezy. It collects your email address and stores the free order and access key in our store, and sends your receipt. No payment card is required and there is no automatic charge. Your trial key expires after one day; the expiration returned by Lemon Squeezy controls access.

SpeakCivics validates the key with Lemon Squeezy and stores an encrypted essential browser cookie to remember access. One browser can be active per key. An expired trial does not erase practice progress stored on your device. Free orders and trial activations are not paid sales.

Customer records let us provide access and support. Promotional email requires a separate marketing opt-in; requesting trial access is not consent to a marketing campaign. We have not enabled automated promotional messages. Contact contact@speakcivics.com for help or deletion requests.

Trials started using the earlier SpeakCivics email form retain their original expiration. For these trials we retain the signup email, hashed trial identifier, start and expiry times, and first app opening, upgrade visit and purchased-key activation. The eligibility cookie can remain for one year. A key activation does not itself verify payment.

Web version access keys

We use an encrypted, secure browser cookie to remember app access. Complimentary testing keys are checked against hashes stored on the server. For purchased access, the server verifies the license with Lemon Squeezy and periodically checks that it remains active. Keys are submitted securely and are not placed in page URLs. Releasing browser access removes the access cookie without deleting your practice progress.

Your practice progress

The practice app stores learner profiles, preferences, saved questions, and progress locally in your browser or app storage. The information is specific to that browser or device. Clearing browser data or removing the app can remove it. If you export a practice report, you control where the exported file goes and who receives it.

Microphone and speech recognition

Spoken practice requires microphone permission. SpeakCivics does not save audio recordings. Your browser or device speech provider may process audio, including by sending it to its servers, to convert speech into text. Its own privacy terms apply. You can use typed responses when speech recognition is unavailable or you prefer not to use it.

Translations and location

Translation and voice availability depend on your browser, device, language, and connection. The practice app can use location permission when you choose its location-assisted setup. You can enter location details yourself instead. Saved profile and location settings are kept on your device. External services used for translation or location lookups may receive the information needed to provide those features.

Application review practice

Personal application answers in interview practice are not graded for eligibility and are not saved as practice history. Use this educational feature to rehearse speaking; it is not an application submission or legal assessment.

Purchases and external websites

Web access is available for purchase through Lemon Squeezy. The Buy web access links take you to its hosted checkout, where Lemon Squeezy and its payment providers process the information you enter to complete your purchase. Their privacy policies apply to that checkout. SpeakCivics verifies the resulting license to provide browser access, as described above. The iPhone and iPad app is now available on the App Store as a free download with optional $3.99/month or $19.99 one-time in-app full access. External sites, including Lemon Squeezy, USCIS, and app stores, have their own privacy policies.

App Store access and advertising

The iPhone and iPad app is free to download with free practice. Optional full access is available through Apple in-app purchases: a $3.99/month auto-renewing subscription or a $19.99 one-time purchase in the U.S. App Store. Apple processes payments under its own privacy policy; SpeakCivics does not collect your payment card details. Purchases can be restored in the app. No website purchase or web access key is required. The app contains no advertising. Web purchases are separate.

Support and contact

For support or privacy questions, email Contact@speakcivics.com or visit our Support page. If you email us, your message and the contact information you provide are used to respond to your request. Do not include passwords, access keys, payment card details, or immigration documents.

Your controls

You can revoke microphone and location permissions in your device or browser settings. You can remove locally stored progress by clearing site data; doing so also removes locally saved preferences, learner profiles, and measurement cookies.
